How do I make an appointment?

If you are interested in setting up an initial appointment, please call Mr. Donovan at (410) 583-2622. A brief, complimentary phone consultation is Mr. Donovan’s usual practice prior to scheduling an appointment to answer any questions and to gather some important information. Overall, the goal is to make sure that this therapy is a good match for your needs. Matching a therapist with experience concerning the problems you are calling about is paramount.

How often will I come to therapy?

The majority of clients attend weekly or bi weekly therapy sessions. Each therapy session, including the initial consultation, is 50 minutes. However, therapy can be customized to be more or less intensive depending on your goals, the severity of your symptoms, and our respective schedules. Although it varies among individual, couples or families clients, cognitive-behavioral treatment or couple and family treatment lasts, on average, for 6-12 months.

Do you accept insurance?

Mr. Donovan does not accept any insurance directly, though most of our clients use their out-of-network benefits to receive some reimbursement. Clients receive a statement directly for therapy sessions. Each statement includes the necessary information for submission to your insurance company.

How do I determine whether insurance will reimburse me for sessions?

As a first step, you should check with your insurance provider to determine their reimbursement rate for out-of-network individual psychotherapy sessions (CPT Code 90834) in the 10003 zip code. Your insurance company can also inform you as to whether they require preauthorization for treatment, have an annual deductible, or limit the number of annual sessions.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Payment is accepted by cash, check, credit card or health savings account ($5.00 service fee for credit card) at the time of each session.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO CANCEL AN APPOINTMENT?

If you need to cancel or change an appointment, please provide 24 hours notice. I will usually require a cancellation fee if you do not provide such advance notice.
