How do I make an appointment?
If you are interested in setting up an initial appointment or consultation, please call Mr. Donovan at (410) 583-2622. A brief, complimentary phone consultation is Mr. Donovan’s usual practice prior to scheduling an appointment to get pertinent background information and answer any questions about the process. Overall, the goal is to make sure that this therapy is a good match for your needs. Matching a therapist with experience concerning the problems you are calling about is paramount.
How often will I come to therapy?
The majority of clients attend weekly or bi weekly therapy sessions. Each therapy session, including the initial consultation, is 50 minutes. However, therapy can be customized to be more or less intensive depending on your goals, the severity of your symptoms, and our respective schedules. Although it varies among individual, couples or families clients, cognitive-behavioral treatment or couple and family treatment lasts, on average, for 6-12 months.
Do you accept insurance?
Mr. Donovan continues to be an out-of-network provider with most insurance carriers. The only insurance which he accepts directly is EHP by Johns Hopkins. Most clients inquire with their insurance carrier about their out-of-network benefits to receive any reimbursement. Clients receive a statement directly for each therapy session and a statement includes the necessary information for submission to your insurance company, such as service and diagnostic codes
How do I determine whether insurance will reimburse me for sessions?
As a first step, you should check with your insurance provider to determine their reimbursement rate for out-of-network individual or family psychotherapy sessions (CPT Code 90791, 90834 or 90847) in the 21093 zip code. Your insurance company can also inform you as to whether they require preauthorization for treatment, have an annual deductible, or limit the number of annual sessions.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Payment is accepted by cash, check, credit card or health savings account. An individual session fee (50 minutes) is $180.00 and couples session fee (80 minutes) is $275.00.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO CANCEL AN APPOINTMENT?
If you need to cancel or change an appointment, please provide 48 hours notice. I will usually require a cancellation fee, which is the full fee, if you do not provide such advance notice. However, if you cancel an appointment under 48 hours because of an emergency, the fee is waived.
